FAQs

Clematis for obelisk

This question was asked by
- Linda

Hi, could you recommend a couple of blue/ purple clematis for training up a pair of 5ft obelisks which are in east-facing borders? Would I have to fix netting around the (wire) obelisks to get them started. Many thanks! Linda

Hi Linda, yes if you take a look at the 3 below and see which you prefer they all fit your criteria and will do well on the obelisks.

If the obelisks have plenty of horizontal and verticle support then you wont need any additional wires etc - but without seeing them its hard to say as they are all different.

basically clematis need plenty of support to get a hold of in which to climb nicely without hindrance, hope this helps
