I am thinking about planting a Clematis Grandiflora at the base of a large leylandii hedge - is there any chance of this working? (And when are your clematis flammula likely to be available?
Hi, yes the Montana types should work well there as long as they are kept watered regular after the initial planting process (until their roots tap into a natural water source)
There won't be any flammula ready for months yet (hopefully towards the middle of the year)
So if you are wanting to see some sort of results this year then I would get them in now as all our plants are 2 years old in 2 litre pots and fully hardy, it means that they are fully mature and can be planted at anytime of year, so the sooner they go in the better they will perform this same season.
