Evergreen clematis offer many advantages in the garden, they flower, they cover, alot are scented, they never need pruning, and 'yes' they stay green all year round. They need a sunny spot in the garden that is sheltered from strong winds to perform their best.
Good morning
I'm wanting to buy two evergreen clematis to grow in large pots on either side of a metal arch
and wondered when I could come and talk to someone about this, and buy the plants of course?
Thank you
Hi Anne Marie, hopefully we can answer any questions that you might have by email as our nursery is not open Dailey to the public.
The evergreens are all in 1 category and the main difference is the heights and the flowering times, so if you take a look at the link below you should be able to narrow it down with this process.
Once you have got your short list we can advise further (if need be)
An then we could also arrange a day and time for you to come down to the nursery and collect them .
Hope this helps
Could you tell me if this would do well on an east facing wall, please? It gets full sun until the sun moves over the top of the house, which is a bungalow. If not, can you suggest an evergreen which might? Thanks.
Hi, yes any evergreen clematis should grow there fine, however the more sun it gets the better it flowers. So you won't know exactly how well it performs in your situation until you try it really.
As all our plants are 2 years old in 2 litre pots and fully hardy, it means that they are fully mature and can be planted at anytime of year, so ours will stand the best chance of performing well for you there
Hope this helps
Hello. I am looking for an evergreen Clematis other than Clematis armandii. Is Clematis viticella evergreen? Or perhaps you have further suggestions? With thanks, Matthew
Hi Matthew, yes we have a full section on evergreen clematis - please see the link below
the answer to your other question is 'no' viticella types are not evergreen
here is the link to about 20 evergreen varieties
I am looking to order some clematis from you but wondered if you could advise on which ones would be best for me. I need 9 plants for a North East facing area to plant soon. I would like evergreen with nice flowers obviously. It is to screen a long fenced area. There are a bewildering number on your site so I thought better to ask
If you could help that would be great and if you could let me know what the approx delivery time is I can then order online. Many thanks.
Hi Philip, evergreen clematis need a sunny position and by the sound of it yours is not going to be (generally sunny is south facing or west facing)
so you are going to struggle from the offset.
You could of course try them and see how you get on as we do have the odd customer that tells us they haver managed to get evergreens growing in shade .
however if you drop the evergreen part then (as you say) there are hundreds to choose from.
So how do you get to see all the ones that will fit your criteria...?
well you start off using the main categories on the left hand side of the website and work from there, so for instance you might start at 'clematis by flowering time' and select 'june to september' you will then be presented with lots and lots of clematis that flower at that time, so we have filters at the top of the page where you can initally filter by aspect (so set this to 'any aspect' and then by height set this to 6-8 feet for example)
then you will be left with a much smaller result where the only thing you will need to look at will be the colours. I have included a good link below for you to start off at that very point.
EVERGREEN Clematis
our delivery service is operating as normal so anyday next week is possible (apart from good Friday of course)
