Hello Chris and Suzy.. I am about to replace an arch over a windy path that runs through a circular flower bed and I would like to grow two clematis at either side of the arch so they should meet over the centre of the arch. I have read in my Which magazine that Crystal Fountain is a recommended variety. Would this clematis be good for this location. The soil is well drained and of reasonable quality but the arch is in the open. I would appreciate your thoughts? Chris
Hi Chris it sounds ok to us, as long as the centre of your arch is no higher than about 6 feet ( as this is about as tall as it gets normally, however we have seen some get to about 8feet)
People generally go for viticella types for arches as they just go that bit taller
Anyway
Hope this helps Chris
