Hello, I am looking for a Clematis which would be suitable for the following: its roots would be in a large pot in a basement patio, while it would be trained up cast iron railings on a stairway to reach sunny south facing railings on a street. The purpose of the Clematis is to provide screening, so people can't see clearly from the street into the kitchen below. The screening would not need to be dense so I wondered if the seed heads and general tangle of Tanguitica might work. Or a Montana (but would it be ok in a pot?). Armandii? I look forward to your advice. Also do you provide Clematis that are more mature than 2 years? Many thanks.
Hi yes you are probably better off with tangutica types as they will lend themselves a lot better to a pot than a montana or an armandii will (these 2 really need to be in the ground as the roots get soo big). So yes bill mckenzie will be the best option for you.
All our plants are a minimum of 2 years old , so they are fully hardy and mature when you receive them. Meaning that you can plant them out at any time of year
Hope this helps
