Picardy or any small flowering group 3 clematis

This question was asked by

I am looking for a group 3 clematis preferably with abundant smallish flowers of red or blue/purple colour which will grow quickly up to a max height of 3/3.5 metres could you please suggest.

Hi Jeff, Picardy only grows 1 metre, the viticella types are going to be the best for you really, and are available in all your colour options, and will hit 3-3.5 meres I have included the link to all of them below so you can peruse them at you leisure (about 4 pages of them) they form a ‘blanket’ of small flowers all summer long so are very good value for money. As all our plants are 2 years old in 2 litre pots and fully hardy, it means that they are fully mature and can be planted at anytime of year, so the sooner they go in the better they will perform this same season.
Hope this helps, please find the link below

hanging basket clematis

This question was asked by

Hi there, I am interested in a small, long-flowering clematis that would drape down a wall, if it isn’t staked up.
I have been looking online for any suggestion that Picardy, Bijou or Doctor Mary might have this habit, but I can’t find anything unequivocal.
I would be grateful if you would give me your thoughts on this.
Many thanks, Deirdre

Hi Deirdre, the best ones for the job are our boulevard collection, we have grown these in 16 inch hanging baskets, and reclamation chimney pots and even hayracks! they do the ‘tumbling’ / falling / trailing effect very well. They flower for 6 months and are available in about 26 different colours.
please find the link below to 4 full pages of them to look at –

hope this helps
Thanks, Chris
