Windy Costal Clematis

This question was asked by
Mandy B

Hi, saw a Scottish gardening programme last year singing the praises of Clematis Viticella for being able to withstand wind in a costal area. Do you agree? I’m hoping to put five against a fence. Plenty of water, but well drained, full sun (unless it’s raining!), rare frost or snow, but biting wind. Which, if any, of your Clematis Viticella do you thing suitable. Thanks

Hi Mandy, yes that’s correct. The viticella types are very tough and hardy and will withstand anything that you throw at them. There is no 1 variety among the whole species that is any better than another.
Basically if its a viticella then that’s enough – we have about 30 different varieties of ‘viticella’ to choose from (all different colours and flower shapes) if you click the link below you will see them all over 4 pages
Hope this helps
Thanks

problem with address

This question was asked by
Heike A

I was told there is no shipping to my address. I do live in Hudson NC 28638. why cannot you ship to my address? I get items all the way from China.

Hi Heike, Its the fact that we sell ‘living plants’ and U.S Customs will not allow the importation of any ‘living plants’ into the country I’m afraid. So whilst you can order ‘general stuff’ from China, you will not be allowed plants (from anywhere in the world)
Hope this explains
Many Thanks

Clematis Angela and alita

This question was asked by
Val

I would like to buy the clematis Angela and Alita in August. Will you still stock them at that time?

Hi Val, Yes as we are a grower we always have them here in stock, however it will depend on whether we have a batch ready or not (as they have to fill their roots out in the 2 litre pots that we grow them in before we send them out)
So the best thing to do would be to contact us again around July time and see how many we have in stock then.
Hope this helps
Many Thanks

Clematis Rehderiana

This question was asked by
Neil M

Could you please advise if you will be stocking clematis Rehderiana this year? If so, when would it likely to be ready for sale?
Kind Regards,
Neil.

Hi Neil, yes we have some growing here on the nursery at the moment, but its all down to how well they put their roots down in the pots – as to how long its going to be before we can release them. I would hope to have some ready in about 6-8 weeks time.
Hope this helps, there is a ‘Notify Me’ button at the side of the ‘info’ button. If you click that and enter your email address, you will be among the first to know once I put them back in stock (please find the link below)
Many Thanks
Chris

Clematis Montana Wilsonii

This question was asked by
Valerie H

I would like to buy one of these for my daughter’s birthday. Do you have any of a good size? She lives in North Essex. If I pay for one could you send it to her?
I do not mind paying more for a more mature specimen.

Hi Val, its good news! Yes we have them in stock and they are available for immediate delivery. All our plants are 2 years old and fully mature – garden ready specimens. The wilsonii are here on the nursery are about 3 feet – 4 feet tall at the moment (so no need to pay extra for more mature plants anywhere)
ours are the biggest and the best quality that you can buy anywhere in the country.
Please find the link below to order one.
Many Thanks

shipping to united states

This question was asked by
Denise S

Hello I attempted to place an order but it did not go through. I am in the US. Please advise-Thank you

Hi Denise, I am afraid that due to U.S Customs regulations we are not allowed to import living plants anywhere in the states. We can happily deliver to 27 other countries inside the E.U with no import issues at all. But U.S customs fear for a microbiological warfare attack and thus will not allow anything ‘living’ to enter (especially deadly clematis – growing in compost)
Hope this answers your question (its not us – its them)
Cheers

Crystal Fountain Query.

This question was asked by
Anne R

Hi – I have ordered a crystal fountain clematis from you. Please can you tell me if this particular variety needs tying in or will it scramble up my trellis itself?

Many thanks

Hi Anne, Yes Crystal Fountain is indeed a climber so it will climb up your trellis all by itself – the only time you might need to help it, is if it has a fast growth spurt this summer and put on a lot of growth quite quickly, as it then might lean out towards you rather than back against the trellis. So it will just need helping back on to the trellis to continue its journey. Hope this helps, Many Thanks Chris
