Clematis for north facing fence

This question was asked by
Christine

Hello, could you please suggest two or three varieties which would suit being planted against a rather unsightly north facing fence, with partial shade. I thought an evergreen clematis would be good to cover up the fence during the winter. Alternatively perhaps deciduous clematis with interesting stems. Thank you for your help, I’ve been going round in circles!

Hi Christine sorry for the late reply. Evergreens will grow in shade but wont flower, so if you go down this route be prepared for this.
if you do go for deciduous ones then there are lots to choose from and the only way you are going to narrow it down is by using our filters.
first choose a colour that you want and then select the preferred height and finally the flowering period. This can all be done on our website starting from the ‘any aspect’ category (link below) hope this helps

Hi , I’m looking to order the following Diamantina,
Florida Taiga. I have a garden trellis approx 12 inches in diameter in part shade.
I’m looking to plant 4 in total , two either side at the base of the trellis. Do you think that 2 would be sufficient ? And how deep they would need to be planted ?

Thanks

Dean

Hi Dean yes 2 of ours should be fine as they are already 2 years old and are good strong multi stemmed plants so will get on with the job as soon as they are planted (put the taiga on the side that gets the most sun)
hope this helps – links below

Delivery to Northern Ireland

This question was asked by
William

Good afternoon

I would be interested in having a number of plants shiopped to Belfast.

We are hoping to be planting next week.

I know things are difficult at the moment – do you feel that this will be possible? Your selection is a lot better than those we have locally.

I would be looking at placing an order right away if this is possible

Thanks

William Wood

Hi yes we are, everything is still running as normal at the moment, delivery slots to all parts of Northern Ireland are still available for next week (you can choose at step 3 of the checkout process)

Good morning, how many Boulevard would you plant to cover a trellis 8 ft long x 4 ft high.

Kind regards

Brian

Hi Brian, as ours spread about 2-3 feet each I would say between 3 and 4 for total coverage, as all our plants are 2 years old in 2 litre pots and fully hardy, it means that they are fully mature and can be planted at anytime of year, so the sooner they go in the better they will perform this same season.
Hope this helps, please find the link below

I’m looking for a yellow late flowering clematis to grow up a pergola with clematis Princess Kate. I considered Bill Mackenzie but the pergola is narrow and only 3 metres high so I think Bill Mackenzie would be too vigorous. Would Golden Tiara be suitable?

Hi Janet yes either golden Tiara or Helios would be fine. As all our plants are 2 years old in 2 litre pots and fully hardy, it means that they are fully mature and can be planted at anytime of year, so the sooner they go in the better they will perform this same season.
Hope this helps and please see links below
