Taylors Clematis :: Clematis going brown, from the bottom up

Clematis going brown, from the bottom up

My plant is going brown from the bottom up is this Clematis wilt?

No, this is simply drying out. Clematis are very thirsty plants so give them plenty of water.
In Spring/Summer If the plant is very brown, cut it back to about 18 inches from the base this will encourage fresh new growth to come from lower down the plant. (from august onwards it's best left until feb/march the following year).
Always remove the dead leaves below the point which you have cut it back too.
